You and me both Jim, though I'm afraid this winter is going to be worse than ever, with the sun spot count being so low this year. One of the lowest counts in 100 years or so.

Jim, I thought all Northerners loved winter Big Grin

Here in the St Louis area we've had over 9" of rain so far in October, a new record, and more on the way today.
My outdoor cooks have been very limited lately.

We have about 10 inches where I live "front range north of Denver". The foothills 10 miles west got the worst of it and yes schools did shut down yesterday (probably only happens once or twice per year). We do have 300 days of sunshine here. This must be one of the other 65. Won't stop me from bbq'n.

Yeah, when I move here 30 years ago winter was my favorite season. It is now solidly in last place.

Bob, there is absolutely NOTHING I like about winter. The cold, the snow, shoveling the crap day after day ... sometimes hour after hour. Just the THOUGHT of snow falling makes me sick.
Although, I do not mind driving in snow, we do get plenty of it up here, and I live in the countryside portion of Wisconsin and drive a 4WD Jeep Wrangler that gets through it pretty easily. As lo0ng as I stay off the roads where others insist on driving like they're in the Indy500.

when i was living on the front range a bunch of years ago, i found the snow to be not too big a deal (unless it got to be about 20")...it was usually 50 degrees and sunny the next day with no humidity so it would melt off pretty fast...i think i shoveled my driveway once in 3 winters...i thought it was cool on the roads that they only used sand - no salt - and that they would sweep it up a couple days later....i liked the winters there much more than here in new england....

definitely too early for snow anywhere as far as i'm concerned...

You are correct Rob, winters along the front range of Colorado are not bad at all compared to other areas that get regular snow. There have many years where I have golfed each month of the year. I guess i should not whine so much, it just seems soooo early.

We had our fist snow about a month ago - Not as much as that, but enough for my kids to make snowmen.

Gentlemen, I've got a different perspective concerning snow now that I'm retired. I look out the window and say" well time to go read a book or go back to bed" .No more fighting to get into and home from work. Done my time in the Northeast and on the Great Lakes. I've been there and done that. I guess my worse experience was the winter of 78. That's a whole story in itself.

Most of the snow is gone at the moment. Golf courses are re-opening today.
