Got up at 6:00am and followed the basic recipie for first time users....
Held temp at about 340 for 2.75 hours. Looks great and tastes fantastic! First one... 12 lbe butterball with 8% solution. Can/Do you still brine a bird with the solution? I would use the apple brine if so...and if I can find it... Or, I'll just rub it with some love.... I will be using the whole turkey self basting link on this forum and following the directions. Thanks This message has been edited. Last edited by: Grant B. (outdoorgb), Be Prepared! |

An enhanced bird is basically already 'brined'.....you can still brine/marinate if you like, but the effects will not be the same because the bird is already full of additional liquid....in otherwords, you're 'soaking' the turkey, vs. brining.
Here's a link to how I do both a brined turkey and an enhanced breast. I like to keep them both simple...hope this helps! Larry Wolfe |

Thanks Larry...your quick help, again, has made me ready to go. I'll give it a little wash, rub it with some love, and smoke it up this Sat or Sun...
Obligatory pictures to follow...thanks again. Be Prepared! |
