Ok So I got to ask...Anybody try beer can turkey yet? I know I have seen the stands for sale but I was a little hesitant about trying it. I'm thinking of trying just a large juice can full of apple juice and white wine along with a brined 14 pounder? Sounds good to me anyway!

Thanks much

Smoke Em if you got them!

Morgan

I have done the beer can turkey with about a 7 lb fresh turkey breast.

Using regular sized beer can chicken stand.
They have come out very good.

Never done a full turkey though.

Forster's Beer aka Oil Cans work good for this as well.

Heineken tall boys work great. I think this was about 9lbs 2 years ago.

Aloha, Rob.

Just picked up this gadget to try this year. I've heard favorable reviews from other sites, so we'll see.

Turkey Cannon

That's cool Bruce, I'd like to try one of those, thanks for posting. I'd probably use water and drink the wine.

I cooked it on the can about 325 or so. Nice crispy skin, moist meat, and the bird was definetly the best I have done to this date. Will see if I can top it this thur. Oh yeah it was on a weber grill, but should work on the WSM just as well.

Aloha, Rob.

I got my hands on that Turkey cannon today at BBQS Galore and took it over to the WSM on display. The thing fits in the WSM, but the offset of the post is a little bit of a problem ... I can't see getting a very large bird on it in the WSM, maybe 10lbs if that.

It'll be fine in the new big boy though.

Robert, I believe the correct terminology for that is a Heiney-Can.
