Does anyone cook their turkey on the WSM, or grill with lump charcoal only, no added wood?

We love smoked everything, but I'm afraid some of the guests may not care for smoked turkey, at least for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

I assume that just lump will impart good flavors without being too heavy handed on the smoke flavor.

Thanks!
Bob

Bob - Melissa and I have kinda split the difference a couple of years - I would smoke a turkey on the grill - usually just a breast with some cut up fruit stuffed in the cavity - and she would do a small-ish one, with traditional stuffing, in the oven.

However, I think that last year, I did the turkey because most everybody wanted the smoked turkey.

I think lump with a touch of apple wood shouldn't turn off anybody. If so, maybe they would like a hot dog or chicken fingers.

Smoke on!

Lump alone would be perfectly fine. Or as Pat suggested a touch of apple wood would be great as well without being overpowering.
