I did as one forum post suggested, got some Contractor Bags from Lowe's, and now have one of them covering my almost new 18-inch WSM when rain is expected. Got it in place just hours before an extreme rain event this week.

I like this solution. I tucked the bottom of the bag underneath the heat shield, and the bag's weight probably makes removal by wind unlikely. May add the Weber cover atop that when damaging hail is in the forecast.

I also believe I can use part of one of those bags to cover my Q grill, by shortening it and cutting slits on two sides. It is almost wide enough as is, and the slits should make it work.

I am sure all the Weber products are built to withstand weather quite well with no cover at all. But some of us may prefer to use one.

Chris,

A contractor bag is basically a black garbage bag but with much thicker plastic so they don't rip easily. They're designed for contractors who need to clean up on a construction job where there are lots of nails, sharp edges, etc. I threw one over my WSM to keep it dry when I'm not using it in the (now snowy) Northeast.

You can get 'em anywhere - Costco, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc etc
