I live in surprise Arizona and I am having a hard time finding smoking wood. I found hickory and mesquite at home depot and I found hickory and mesquite as well as cherry and pecan at barbecues galore but they are expensive. But I cannot find oak or any other woods. I don’t know if Cabelas carries any wood or not but if anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason-

Perhaps you could try some of the firewood suppliers locally? Not sure if there are any orchards close by, or what kind they would be, but that's possibly another source. Also, while it may be a drive for you, there appear to be two charcoal companies in Phoenix (American Charcoal and Mesquite Charcoal) that may have smoke woods as well (my local charcoal company has bulk smoke wood for sale in addition to the charcoal they make.)

Hope that helps some!

Jason,
You might try eBay. A search of smoker wood chunks should bring up several listings of different types of wood.

Usually the wood is fairly cheap, but shipping runs the cost up, but this would be the case from other sources.

Do you have Olive trees near where you live? One member from AZ has found it to be a great smoking wood.
