I use mine at least 5 times a month. I've done 3 cooks before without even letting it cool off lol.
Started with ribs in the a.m., tossed on Butts when ribs were done, then a tip roast when the butts were done then next day. Good thing I was using lump, the Kingsford would have filled the bowl all the way. Wink

I've done the same. It's pretty convenient if the time is right. Last time I did butt then turkey breast then salmon.

I use mine every other weekend at least. As I type this message my neighbor is using my WSM for three eye of round roasts.

Gee, this is a hard question to answer. During the summer it gets a lot of use. During the winter it gets used very little. Now you want an average?

The winter in Illinois has been warm so it got a bit more use than it would have if we had a ton of snow. No, I don't shovel my smoker area and yes, I have a smoking jacket so the weather doesn't bother the smoker.

I use my WSM 3-4/ mo. This past weekend I cooked back-to-back-to-back (tip roast, butt, ribs).

I didn't use my WSM this past weekend and I believe I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms (i.e., I been thinking about pork butt every four hours or so since Monday--will have to wait until Friday, just can't do a 12 hr. butt cook on a weekday).

In warmer weather, I use my every weekend. Since December, I've used it every other week, so I figure that is three times a month average.

Once a week now it's warmer (cook enough for my brother-in law's family to come over). But at least once a month during the winter.

I use mine once every two weeks. Lately I have been doing more grilling, using the bottom section and lump charcoal. Sometimes I don't even use rub. Pork chops come out great.

I also remove the water pan and cook chicken on the top section. A light dusting of corn starch improves the skin remarkably. Too bad I'm the only one in the family that eats the skin.

About twice a month from May to Sep sometimes Oct. The rest of the year is too dadgum cold here in North Pole, Alaska!!

I have been thinking about building some sort of shed or other structure with ventilation so that I could have a place to smoke that is protected from snow and wind. May have to be a project for next summer as it is kinda late to start something like that this year.

Enjoy,
Dan

I was really turned-off by the brinkmonster I had.I stumbled across this forum over a year ago and couldn't believe all of the great reviews everyone was giving the WSM. Finally decided to give it a go and my only regret is than I didn't buy my LIT-IT-AND-FORGIT-IT-WSM years ago.
thanks, Chris and all contributors.

Over 5 times a month for me.

My WSMs have graduated to being regular cooking tools. Briskets/butts/ribs happen several times a month, but more often I find myself doing quick higher-temp weeknight cooks of chicken, fish, fatties for grandma (she's hooked!), etc. Since it's just Robert and me, I use the WSM as a grill for steaks as well. I keep one on the covered back porch (cement floor) just outside the back door for regular use, and the other has a home in the storage bldg until she's needed.

I'm having a new trailer rig built that should be here the last weekend of September in time for my birthday ( Big Grin), but that one won't affect my weekday use of the WSMs, as the new toy will be a bit larger, having about 31-32 sq feet of cooking space.

Hi, Chuck. Well, we had a "Robert C" rig until a few weeks ago. It was a homemade Oklahoma Joe's clone on a modified horse trailer frame, 1/4" steel, 48" vertical, 48" horizontal, 20" diameter pipe. It sounds decent-sized, but she was an ornery cuss and didn't have as much usable capacity as it sounds like she might have. She went to live at a local church, and a brand-spankin' new Diamond Plate Fat 50 from San Angelo, TX is coming to live with us about the end of the month. Not withstanding a few modifications he's making for me, she'll look like THIS ONE ( (and another view) except that I won't have the upper storage basket - them ther's honest-ta-goodness chrome Peterbilt stacks on that puppy, too. My favorite color is chrome... Big Grin

Enough of hijacking this thread, though - I'll post more on her later on. (And, yes, she'll be competing. We started competing a bit last year, have continued this year, and she will have her competition debut about 3 weeks after she comes to live with us. We've gonna have to get acquainted REAL quick!)

And, yes, Chuck, I've been REAL good this year. Wink

I like. Looks like it could spin the wheels when it gets hot enough.

With all the choices, how did you settle on this one?
