You read that right. These...are going to be good. I just threw 'em on 10 minutes ago...so I still have over an hour before I can produce visuals on the final product. However, this stuff is super promising. What a beautiful fall day to be out on the back porch, grilling.

Hayden, gotta say I'm looking forward to seeing the results on this one. I would never have thought of a blueberry/wing combo!

Beautiful foliage you have there!

I'm looking forward to it too. So far I've done orange marmelade, peach w/ cinnamon, apricot, apricot/pineapple, and raspberry. I just, really wanted to try this. I finger tested the srirahca after I finished it on the range, and it's good. Curious to see how it translates onto the wings.

Yeah, our fall colors are just coming into their own. We should peak this week. I love the picture of the kettle and the reflection of the treeline.

THey're done, and amazing. They drew rave reviews from the neighbors too, who were out on their porch carving pumpkins with the kids. I'm going to scarf these down, and have finals up shortly.

Without a doubt, the best I've had so far. My goodness. Ridiculously good. And...ridiculously gone. I had the 350 temp nailed for the entire cook, although for the last 15 minutes, I slide the lid off a bit to ramp up the temps and get a nice blackening before pulling 'em off.

LOL I'm a hybrid.

Yes. Go get some blueberry preserves. These need to be made immediately. I'm glad that's all the wings I made. If I'd have made twice as many, I'd have eaten twice as many too. LOL

Thank you for the comments, gentlemen.

I live in a townhouse development, so my back porch on end, pretty much runs up against my neighbors porch. I put up a privacy fence years ago, but it's no match for the assault the Weber kettle puts on ones olfactory senses. My neighbor is a father of two, and is actively involved with his boys in the scouts. Today, he had the whole troop on his back porch carving pumpkins. Very cool. While I'm cooking and sluggin' down a few beers, he pulls a Wilson a la Home Improvement, peers over the fence from his tip toes and says "Seriously??? You have to do that right now???." LOL When the wings were done, I passed a paper plate of wings over the fence for him and the other adults. Everyone's a fan.

Wow, Hayden, they look great! I still have to say that the blueberry/wing combo sounds like a strange taste sensation, but I will take your word for it! Smiler Nice work, and out of the box thinking!

With the amount of heat the sriracha brings, the preserves are pretty low on the flavor profile. The honey and brown sugar provide the majority of the sweet. The funny thing is, if you were blindfolded, and ate these without knowing what type of preserves were used, it is very unlikely you'd be able to identify it as blueberry.

Great looking wings. I wouldn't think blueberry would even taste good on chicken but what do I know. I need to try different flavors of that sauce

You will be amazed. I'm starting to think that because of the makeup of the sauce, that there isn't much you can do to foul it up. I keep waiting for that moment where I say "Eww...now that's disgusting," and it just hasn't happened. In fact it's been the opposite. Not only are they passable, they're downright fantastic. With as easy as the sauce is to make, it's really not much to get down in the kitchen and make 2 or 3 different types at once and experiment.

Hayden,

Is that a concrete block I see on your coal grate?

I want to try this but wasn't sure of food-safe-ness and temp. toleration.

Rick

Negative on the concrete. What you see are two offset firebricks. Here's a picture I took of the setup when I did my brisket, which was the first time I used them. I use these as a substitute for charcoal rails/charcoal baskets. I like them because they allow me to stack coal all the way up to the bottom of the grate, which is fantastic for long cooks, like the pork butt I did recently, or the brisket. Because you can stack the coals up to the grate, can dedicate a larger portion of the grate to food space...a result of the charcoal taking up less space horizontally across the charcoal grate.
