Well I was planing on smoking pork on the 24th.

But....

I got a call the afternoon before (about a hour before I was going to start the charcoal up), and was told we work working on a detail saturday (I'm a police lieutenant).

Well I figured from what I was told I would be home after 2-3 hours. Nope, they left out the rest of the "detail" until we were there.

So 2 parades, 1 ball tournament, and 1 on site security review for the Memorial Day gathering of 12-15 thousand people at the local park later I get to come home. It's 7pm by then and smoking a whole shoulder is out of the question.

Plan "B" is like Chris I'm smoking a partially cooked ham. I'm doing this for Sunday, so I'm a little late, but not by choice WSM Smile

Smoke On ! ! ! !

David,

For what it's worth, I'm observing Smoke Day a day late as well (couple of racks of baby backs should be about done). We started a couple major yard work projects yesterday that ended up taking the bulk of the day and as dirty as I was, I didn't think handling food seemed like a good idea. A belated Smoke Day is better than no Smoke Day!!
