Smoke Day Instigator

As usual, Saturday isn't the best day for everyone - my wife works and other family and friends are going to graduations etc. So, we get together on Sunday and I'm starting tonight.

It was a beautiful day, but when it came time to fire up it was raining! That won't stop us though. At 7 in went a couple of butts. In the morning when they come out, they'll be replaced with spares, then I'll add chicken thighs and legs. The festivities begin around 1 PM.

Hope everyone is having fun!

I am right with you. I had plans to spend the day smoking, but it didn't happen. All I can muster are two butts that went on a half hour ago. It's still Smoke Day, so that helps. Some days just don't turn out as they are planned.

I declare any fire lit before midnight qualifies as a Smoke Day event. Make that midnight Monday.

I'm in before the stroke of midnight. It's almost 10:30 here and I just put two butts on. Tomorrow will be pull pork and Keri's apple beans. I'll also be vacuum packing a few pounds. I love having a well stocked freezer for when I don't have time to smoke.

Nine hours in the butts are almost done. I had created a 16-hour window. I am just about 190 now.

Lunch will be tasty.

Almost 11:30 here. Butts have been on for about 11.5 hours and they're at 175º. I'm anxious to try them as it is my first time using Wolf rub. They look good and smell great. Good all the way around. Big Grin
