Hey! I've been smoking on my Masterbuilt electric box smoker for the last 3 years and have had a blast so far. A friend turned me on to this site a few months ago and I am officially addicted. I just took delivery of an 18.5 WSM yesterday and will be doing my first smoke on Sunday. This site is an amazing resource and has helped me a ton and I haven't even started cooking on charcoal. Looking forward to many great smokes.

Jude

Hey Jude! sorry, couldn't resist

Welcome aboard!

Good luck with your Sunday smoke, and post some pics, if you get the chance.
You'll love the WSM!

Welcome Jude, Low & Slow is the way to go. Hope your first smoke goes well. Follow the guidelines in the cooking topics at first and you can't go wrong.

Welcome Jude - After the first couple of smokes you will be amazed at the ease you will have controlling the heat with your vents on the WSM. It is truly a remarkable piece of equipment that will leave you wondering why in the world you didn't go Charcoal years ago. A great group on this forum with multitudes of great ideas on smoking. Welcome - Bob B

Thanks! I'm going to try the enhanced turkey smoke today. Sounds like a great one to start off with and I need to hone my skills for Thanksgiving. Ideally I wanted a non-enhanced bird but the super chains around here don't carry them. Anyway, I'll document the smoke and let you guys know how it went (with pics of course).
