I'm a current Char-Griller w/sfb owner that was new to smoking this past summer. I love my Char-Griller but after reading more an more about the WSM, I'm pretty sure I want to add one to the stable.
The CG is great for a lot of meat and also to use as a charcoal grill, but it needs more attention than a 1 month old baby.
I've been reading a lot on this forum and already have a few mods on the list: Brinkman waterpan, Guru Eyelets for my Maverick ET-73, and possibly some handles on the chamber.
Also to those that own/run this site I have to say the information you have provided is priceless. I usually join a message board for whatever I can (car, satellite dish, blackberry, etc..) and this site by far exceeds the valuable content than most.

I also have one of the CG Smokin Pro's. It's a versatile unit, but you're right - needs lots of attention.
I went with a Performer this year for general charcoal grilling and it's amazingly easy to use in comparison to the CG. I am planning to add a WSM to the stable for larger cooks next year.

I also would like to add a performer or other Weber kettle for charcoal. The CG can be kind of a paint to clean up after when using it just as a grill. But since I already have made the investment, I think i'll stick with it for charcoal and hopefully 'santa' brings me a WSM.

I can understand that. I used my CG for about 3 years. You do get great grill markings with those cast iron grates.

Welcome Gregg, Hope you pick up as much as I do from these forums. Glad to hear that you want to get a WSM. In the meantime, be happy that you are smoking & tasting the Q.
Welcome from a fellow Northern Virginian! I have had my WSM (18") since the spring, and have used it regularly. (In fact, I'm taking advantage of today's weather to smoke some ribs now.)
