I will be there with my newly created Blackstone BBQ Team. It will be our first competition, so our goal is to place in at least one category...but the real goal is to just gain some experience and have some fun. See you there.

I've never heard of this event, sounds like a good place to take the family for the day.

Do they have BBQ food vendors there too?

Paul,
Yes, it's a great event to bring the whole family to. Last year they had BBQ vendors and other food as well.

Sent in my application. See you there.

Still have to figure out what I can fit into my van. So I might be begging for some equipment. But I will for sure have some La Fin...

Cool thanks, I'll have to check it out.

I think I'm gonna start doing competitions next year.

Anyone doing the small cook-off at Mann Orchards this weekend?

Hey Scottie, it will be good to see you again. If you need anything while you are here, I will be happy to help out. Are you going to bring some of that wonderful Giardiniera with you, that stuff is great, have a safe trip.

I'll probably be be bringing some beefs and giardiniera out with me...

Thanks for the offer Bill. I just don't remember how much I can fit into my van after putting my FE in there... So I might be taking you up on your offer! Wink I get spoiled cooking out of rig and can basically carry anything in it...

I think I can tell already from the posts here, but it sounds like the contest area at this event turns into quite a party on Friday and Saturday night. Is that right? What can you tell me about the atmosphere? Any limitations to alcohol consumption? Just wondering if they frown on any sort of open container.

We're just staying over on Saturday night. I know they are having that U2 tribute band that night and fireworks. And I see that the Sox are playing the Orioles that night so we can keep an eye on that too.

Hey Tony,

Yeah, it can be quite a party on the Circuit. No limitations on how much drinking you do. Try to keep your drink in a plastic cup is all most venues ask. We all try to be respectful of quiet hours...some more than others. Wink

How is this event for a spectator? That is to say, I've never done a competition but I'd like to learn a bit more about what's involved. Are random folks allowed to wander the competition area? Will anyone be vending? When's the best time to come by, if one's focus is BBQ (and not so much U2 cover bands)?
