Swamprb and I did a tune up yesterday in Seattle. We took 6th place overall...(thanks to Brian)...his chicken and tri-tip took two second place finishes... unfortunately my ribs and sausage bombed... Here are a few pics...

I'm still very proud of our sausage and think it may have placed better had it not been the HOTTEST day of the year in Seattle! Maybe at a chilly or wet dreary comp, the Andouille may have warmed up to the Judges.

Congratulations to Midnight Ramblers, and for that matter all the teams that competed in such hot weather (and thanks to my fellow judges... its a little hard judging in that heat with no beer!). I wondered myself Brian and JD how much the high temp were affecting everybody. Remember JD my commenting that your WSM was at 115* sitting empty and no fire! Of course becasue of the double-blind system don't know if I judged your guys sausage or not. I'll say 2 of the 8 that came to "Judge's Table B" were pretty good - one was a patty and one was a "roulade". "Judge Steve"

I won't say every cook I do is a learning experience Brian, but a lot of them are. And I am still impressed at how compactly you and JD are able to travel!!

Thanks Steve...I think we were the only team to turn in an "Andouille"...poor choice on such a hot day! LOL! Next time we'll do something a little different.

I didn't have any issues with temps on the WSM...she cruised along between 220-230 the whole time! WSM Smile

JD - I WISH I had taste Andouille - I love it and would likely have given it a high score!!!
