Looks like there will be 33-35 teams for the contest this weekend. Not a bad number, as it's an increase in size from last year (29). Which is a good sign, as most contests are not getting as many teams as the prior years...

Also, let's get some discussion for a Saturday night Pot Luck. I don't really want to organize it, as I might have to be running my little one's all over the place on Saturday for soccer.

I beleive that Joey has already volunteered prime rib... So if everyone can bring a dish to pass, that would be awesome. It's also a great way for you newbs out there to meet some legends like Joey, Dr. Porkenstein and the reigning Pork Champion from Westmont last year, the Burnt Food Dude...

Maybe we should all post what we are bringing so we can have an idea? I am totally open on what to bring.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions? Or if you need directions or stores to purchase anything.

Scottie

Thanks for getting the ball rolling here Scottie at your hometown cook!

Yep, I'll cook up another rib roast. Only cooking one though unlike last year. May have to limit the "king cuts" this year (sorry Alex).

Gonna be a good one...contest that is

This is going to be a good contest.

Weather looks pretty good, lots of folks coming back out, its in many of our backyards, the venue is outstanding, might even be warm enough to go play in the sprinklers, people breaking out their wallets.

Gonna be a whole lot more GOOD than bad this weekend...

Why, are you bringing your wallet this year? Cool

You're right Joey. Some rain cloud on this forum isn't going to ruin our fun.

Is it because of the all night card game? Eeker

Pat & I are open to suggestions. Pat was thinking of making pasta salad to snack on over the weekend. Would you guys like some also. What else?

The Smokin' Scotsmen (out of Michigan) are bringing smoked Italian Sausage with peppers and onions (mentioned on another forum).

How does a pan of Keri C's hog Apple Beans sound from us?

Good news. I was able to secure the judging tent for the pot luck. We just have to make sure it is cleaned up.

We will all be able to sit down and enjoy...

I was thinking a meat dish, but I am starting to think maybe corn on the cob... So we can get some vegetables. And maybe a watermelon for dessert...

Well, Kathy & I will be driving up starting Thursday, so that rules out us bringing anything homemade. How about if we just wait and see what is needed on Saturday and we go to the store and get something? Will that lower the standard too much?

Man, we are sooo looking forward to this!!!!!!

Phillip,

There's at least one person on this board who digs Sun Drop...although I think he may have loaded up last weekend. Drive careful and welcome to Chicagoland.

You don't need to worry about a thing. We'll take care of you. You can be my guest... I'll bring 2 dishes or 2 things. As I am really in the mood for some corn and watermelon...

Unless someone thinks we need more meat dishes?

As I for sure have to run around on Saturday for a couple of soccer games for my girls... Not sure why they are doing the make-ups on Memorial Day weekend...
