Thanks Mike! This is a really fun contest in a great small town park setting. The local crowd was really receptive to all the teams last year and it should be even better the 2nd time around. Good music and of course an excellent beer selection to partake in if you'd like. If any teams in the area are looking to get out and cook one more time this year, I would highly recommend signing up.

Well the name of this event is right up my alley. Any idea on prize money? I didn't see any mention of awards on the website.

How is the people's choice judged?

Pat, the official judges utilize KCBS rules. The people's choice is judged by individuals purchasing VIP tickets. They have an opportunity to rate each of the contestants' (that choose to participate) ribs and rate on a scale of 1-9; we suggest that they consider appearance, taste and tenderness, and then provide a single score.

I will get updates on the awards. I believe 1st place last year was $200 or $250... not sure on People's Choice.

Thanks for your interest!

Mike

John, let me know what you need for space. We have more room this year, I'm sure we can accommodate.

The rules mention a turn in box, Mike. Will you be providing the container and is it a 9x9 Styrofoam like the ones used in KCBS? Also, what are the rules on garnish?

Also, I understand that no electric is provided, but is a quiet generator OK? Finally, I see that we have to carry our stuff in. Would it be possible to pull up with my trailer to unload and then park the trailer off site?

Thanks!

Ron, yes we'll provide container as per KCBS events. Garnish rules are same as KCBS. Small quiet generator is probably OK, let me confirm.

You'll be able to pull up to the park, we have ATV's with trailers to help move equipment.

Our 2008 event went well, and we have additional space this year. We'll be able to accommodate larger equipment on the street, since we have been given go ahead to close it during the event. Please bear with us as we improve the event this year and beyond!

Mike, I would need to probably set up on the street if you have space there. My smoker is too dang heavy to load onto a trailer pulled by an ATV. I still need to work out some details on the date, but I think it's a possibility.

This is great to see so much interest from teams around the area, I hope you can all make it. I'll pick up a bottle of Gentleman Jack and have it ready for the 8:30am shot.

Coz, we will find room for your smoker, you should be there!

Well if you put Pat and I next to each other we could have a side bet between the continuis feed/Gravity feed type cookers.I will talk with the wife and the partner and see if we could squeeze one more out for the season.

John, we can do that. Do some arm twisting, and get your team to come on down to Lodi!

If Coz is going I'm staying home...

Mike, Any word on the generator? I have a Honda so it is quiet. I use a pellet cooker normally so I'd like to use that if we decide to come, but I can bring a couple of WSMs if the generator is an issue.
