Man my folks had a house on the lake for 20 years. Where is the contest held? Is this down town? Sorry I can not remember where Haberman Park is. It would be nice to attend just would have to get the wife to go for it and of course find a place to stay. Vince B

John, thanks for joining us. Hopefully you can get a few more teams interested. The People's Choice starts at the same time judging starts, 2:30pm. The VIP's walk around and sample the ribs, and judge along the way.

Ron, you can definitely bring the generator.

Vince, Habermann park is across the street from the city pool... right along Spring Creek. There are some nice hotels close to Lodi, the Chamber can help you with that. Bring your wife and show her your old stomping grounds!

Mike

Well it looks like the wife already has some things planned that weekend, so I won't be able to make it. Was looking forward to meeting several of you, but I can't make it.

Well... Unfortunately we're not going to make it. I have to head to Arizona on business travel and won't be back until late on Friday and we now have a family obligation on Saturday.

Good luck to everyone!

Mike, I think Buzz may try and make it down. I am going down to Rockford this weekend to visit my aging parents. Otherwise would love to share some shots.

Hey Coz, good luck.

Well it looks like the same weather we have had every time the cooker leaves the yard this year.

John, direction to Habermann Park in Lodi (assuming you're traveling from Montello). From Interstate 39/90/94 take Exit 119, Hwy 60 east towards Lodi. Follow Hwy 60 into Lodi, to the 4-way stop downtown. You'll take a right on Hwy 113, and travel north about 3 blocks. Take a right on Fair St. (A Mobil station will be on the right). The park is over the bridge on the right.

Here's a link to Google Maps

See you tomorrow!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2nd Annual Lodi Brewbque

Rib Competition:
1st Place - Harmony BBQ
People's Choice - Bringin' the Heat
2nd Place - Bringin' the Heat
3rd Place - Sergeant Smoker

Thanks to all the teams that participated. We had a great turnout, great music, and great eats! We're starting to plan next year's event already, and are thinking about moving it to late September.

Results will be e-mailed to you this week from the Lodi Chamber; please let us know your thoughts about potential dates for 2010, and any improvements we can make for the BBQ competition.

Mike

Thanks Ron.Mike Plunkett and his Hamony team kicked our butts in the KCBS style part of the contest. But the girls put together a nice presentation for the peoples choice and we got that part of the contest. It was fun for a one day deal.If they wanted to expand on it a little they could add a chicken category as one of the guys mentioned. It was pretty neat we were trading sauce and rib samples with each other.Mike and I were showing our turn in boxes to each other at the turn in table. It was a really relaxing time.Lots of time to BS with each other kinda a no pressure attitude event .I am hoping they move it 2 or 3 weeks earlier so a few more teams might be motivated to come out.We had a few friends show up and visit .I think the best decorated booth was Anita Moores sister and her husband who were doing their first competition.Sargeant Smoker had a neat Halloween theme with sound effects and all.Great event to end our season.

It was a great day and a lot of fun. I'm not so sure about the "kicked our butts" part Coz, you had some mighty good ribs on Saturday. nice work on the people's choice award too! We do hope that the Chamber can move this contest up a few weeks as well, it would be good to get some more teams and make this an even bigger event.

Vince, we are from Harmony Grove, hence the creative Harmony BBQ name.
