I served some pulled pork at work and my boss's boss's boss's boss sat down and talked barbecue with me. He wants to buy a smoker and learn to cook Q.

I'm thinking of inviting him to go to a competition with the One-Arm Bandit and me. The man has a great personality and would probably the most fun person at any competition we went to.

Besides the obvious face-time upside, is there a possible downside to spending a weekend at a competition with the big boss?

Umm; lets think about this:
1. He really gets into Q-ing.
2. He becomes good enough to enter into competitions
3. You end up going head to head with him and you know you can beat him
4. You have to decide
A) Beat him and risk being transferd to a lonely corner of the world
B) Let him win and you'll have to live with yourself for ever
Or.
3a. You guys form another team together, Sweep Memphis, The Royal, and The Jack
and you end up with a corner office and you become Boss over your current boss's, boss
Of course all the above was writen in jest.
Big Grin
Invite him along, because we all know BBQers never take themselves seriously Wink

Mac,

Well, I don't have to worry about that.

Actually, I picture him sitting down with Buzz and walking away with an invitation to join his team.

Cozy up and score some points. Get him to sponsor you, assign him the overnight shift at a comp, and then make him pack up and drive the gear home while you drink his expensive wine in the back seat.

That'd be my advise.

UPDATE: No chance of any of the above. The Big Boss was promoted to another position out of state.
