A coworker was moving and offered it to me. I already have 3 grills but wouldn't mind this and getting rid of one of the other charcoal ones till I read all this stuff about the One Touch Gold grill and it's cool ash catcher. Now I'm starting to wonder if this is even worth keeping or if I should just give it to someone else and just get the Gold.

Keep it! You can always canibalize it if necessary.

I think I will go ahead and keep this. Do you think the grate should be replaced or would you just heat it up and try to clean it really good?

Whenever I get a garage sale grill I always replace the cooking grate. I just feel a little cleaner that way. But since you know the person you got the grill from it shouldn't be a problem (I mean you would have gone to a barbecue at that person's house and eaten off that cooking grid, right?). If the grate isn't rusty you can try getting it really hot and cleaning it very well.

Here's a link to another thread where I talk about how I sanitize a garage sale weber kettle.

Thanks for the advise. I think I will go ahead and pick up the extra grate. BTW, the ash catcher seems a little bent. Do you know how I might fix it?

I just want to add that I cooked a tri tip on here last night. This grill is way easier to use than my Brinkmann Dual Zone. I feel like just getting two of the One touch gold grills and getting rid of the Brinkmann. The temp control is much better here than the Brinkmann.

During the camping season I work at a state forest/campground. Sometimes people leave behind grills. Usually grills fit for the dumpster. Two weeks ago three woman were checking out and told me they left their grill on their camp site because it was too hot to pack up. They asked me if I would get rid of it for them. I went to the site and there it was, 22.5 silver EE in good shape.

Yesterday I was reading the free ads for my area. One ad said "medium size webber grill". I checked it out last night and came home with an 18.5 silver "J" in great shape.
