I'm looking to get a 22.5 inch kettle and was wondering what the approximate square inch cooking area is? I want to compare it to some smaller gassers to show my wife that it's big enough!

The area of a circle is Pi r^2 = 3.1416 X 11.25^2 = 398 square inches.

However many square inches you get, you'll need at least 25% more. I keep reading in the just-purchased How to Grill book about moving things to the cooler area of the grill. That'd be the table beside the grill, I guess, as I seem to always have the grill crammed full with no open area -- cooler, hotter, or the same temperature.

Stacking 'em works okay, I suppose, but when cooking on my new Weber, I miss the shear capacity of the gas monstrosity I have, which was often full but had an upper shelf that I could stick things that needed to cool a bit.
