Last year, my family moved into a new home that, due to a number of lies on the disclosure, we've had to dump LOTS of cash into to fix things - so we're into stealth spending mode. Anyway, we live on a nice ravine and looking forward to the chilly weather coming up, I really wanted a firepit but don't want to spend the cash on one. So, I took one of my Weber Kettles (another freebie from the past), took off the legs and sat it in a clay pot. Voila! Free firepit; safer and better than any out there. Just need a bigger pot to recess the kettle a bit more. Hope the wife likes it. Here's a pic.

I had a few kettles left over from my Drum Smoker projects and and rather than scrap them, I shortened the legs and christened them the
"Redneck Firepit" |

Throw grates and a lid on the "redneck fireplace" and you've got a 22" smoky joe..

Hi Dave,
That's pretty clever! I'm not sure which ravine you live by, but if it's Glen Echo, Overbrook, or Worthington then you have a beautiful view. Ed Jones Homebrew and BBQ - Two great tastes that taste great together |

Dave and Brian you both have good firepit ideas.
Brian your deck is looking fairly combustible, so I hope that you move your firepit to the lawn when you use it. |
