I added a thermometer I salvaged off a damaged E-310 gasser lid someone was giving away on Craigslist.

Thats a nice job! It looks nice on your kettle. It looks more built in than the one on my Performer. Although I like being able to check what temperature mine is at from inside the house when I'm smoking! I guess I'm one of those lazy people who buy a Weber so they dont have to do any checking. Nice job!
I would have mounted mine in the same area, but the last owner of the kettle drilled a 3/4" hole there. This is for the Cajun Bandit and its a new WSM thermo.

The WSM thermo is pretty useless for grilling temps, so I mounted a Genesis thermo in the stainless steel plug.

Looks like a stock item, very nice! I like the location also, if you add a Slide-Aside lid holder you wont have to worry about your therm getting hung up.
