After looking for some time, I purchased a 26 3/4 inch kettle on craigslist. The previous owner said it was her grandpa's and she didn't know it's history. I was hoping someone might be able to give me some info on its age.
There is no date code but the lid vent reads: Weber-Stephen Products Co Weber Bar-B-Q Kettle Pat. Pending Arlington Heights, Ill. The Grill has metal handles and 3 lower vents each with 4 holes. If anyone can give me some info on this grill it would be greatly appreciated. |

Hey Matt,
If the kettle itself has 2 metal handles, and a riveted wood handle on the lid, I would guess this to be mid-70's vintage. I think they went from 2 metal hanndles on the kettle, to 2 wood handles, to one wood handle. I could be wrong though. I have a 22.5" that matches your description, and my neighbor said he bought it in 1974. No expert here, just my $.02. My Toys: WSMs (B, DH, DA, EZ, DZ); Brinkmann Cimmaron (1998); Chuckwagon Cooker of unknown pedigree; 22.5" OTG (DT); 22.5" OTS (EI); 22.5" Bar-B-Kettle (1974); Smokey Joe (N) My Boys: Joseph (EI); Andrew (EE); Daniel (EE) |
