Robert,

I've got both a stacker for the WSM and a Bandit. The stacker may as well have been made from aluminum foil. Not many redeeming qualities about it. The Bandit, however, is built like a tank and functions beautifully, with the exception of the grease that sometimes runs down the sides. I also appreciate now having a 22 1/2" compact kettle that I can take on the road with me.

Has anyone done a comparison between the Pro-Q, Smokenator and Cajun Bandit?

Asthetically I'm a huge fan of the Cajun bandit, like a WSM that can still be used as a grill (well properly)
But... I've heard so many "off" things about its ability to hold temp.

Smokenator, so far sounds like it's a pretty solid product, except for the added maintenance of having to add water and coal much more often.

I was on the smokenator forum and there was a guy who did a mod.He took out the small loaf pan for water and filled the whole cavity up with coals , then on top of the smokenator he put a bigger pan filled with water so he could get a longer cook. He said it held temps well.
I have a smokenator and the food comes great on it , I highly recommend the smokenator.

From what I've been reading... basically it seems like I'm doing the same things with a water pan & firebricks...

That smokenator seems to give alot of usefull grill space though

Why use the Smokenator if you use a pan with water?

I think he didn't want to tend to the pan that comes with it , you hav to fill it every hour or so . I never used that mod . I use like out of the box and get a 5 to 6 hour cook on one load of coals. The water pan on the cooking grate that he did does not take away any space since you dont put food over the baffle. The bottom one is the drip pan. If he had the hover grill he could have another rack.
I like gadgets so I gave it shot and really like the product.
Robert did you check out the the product on the site or just that first link? Here is the site.
