My expected delivery date is now the 5th of January!! It was scheduled between the 20th and the 5th of February. Maybe they got a mass shipment from Weber? I ordered mine on October 17th (22.5"). I know what I'll be doing Monday after work! Big Grin

My new one has been calling my name for over a week now. Just called my local butcher and got 10 whole chickens laid out for me this afternoon. I plan on cooking them tomorrow, I should be able to get 4 beer cans on each rack and going to try for 5 and cook all 10 at once. Already got freinds and family stopping by at 4PM to take home supper for them. I am using Royal Oak lump with Hckory and Oak chucks for wood. Got a 18 pack of cold beer just inside the garage in the fridge so I am ready. I will get some photos and pass along my experience.

Brandon

I just un-packed it and it looks to be in great shape.
Pros:
Most excellent packing by weber.
Love the lid thermo, nice look.
The size is just awesome!
Cons:
Of course the DOOR.
For the life of me I can't understand how Weber can make such a beatiful WSM and give you a door that is not even close to fitting properly. I'm not asking for a perfect fit but come on Weber, you should be able to get it closer than 3/16 - 1/4" gaps on both sides. It comes in place, on the mid section, so NO it didn't get bent out of shape in transit. It was put on that way from the factory. Confused Yeah I can work it into place and get a tight fit, but for $400.00 I shouldn't have too, you could at least get it close for us. Eeker
Other than the door looks like a mean cooking machine. Cool

Thats the exact same way my door came.

After a little convincing, it fits pretty snugly now.

If you haven't already, you might consider bending off the tabs on the inside of the vents (the vent stoppers) as they are in the way of the inside grate when you cook and try to turn them.

I have a plan for raising the grate up off those tabs. Wink

Damn Bryan, that is a pretty good sized gap for sure. I don't know if I would have the patience to try and tweak it the way it needs to be tweaked. I would probably go right into my immediate cussing rage and screw it up completely. I used heat tape on my door on my current WSM cause I couldn't get the door to seal up properly. Good luck on your modifications, and take lots of pics if you will please.

Jim, The door thing really has to be fixed at some point, IMO it's a joke. Confused My 22" WSM came with the thermo mounted in the lid. Your saying that they forgot to put a thermo in the lid, is the hole in the lid for it? Eeker Man I'd be hotter than hot. Mad Mad Mad

Yea....the hole is there, just no thermo!!! I was a little upset. At least I have my old smoker to use until it gets here. Being in manufacturing it doesn't surprise me...Quality Control is lacking a lot of the time!

Jim, what a Bummer
I have an old Brinkman water smoker that I got at a Garage sale. It was missing the thermo from the time I got it. I put some aluminum tape over the hole (the kind used for metal a/c ductwork) and have been using it that way for years. I know that is not the way you want your first cook to go, but I also know that I would very tempted depending on how much longer I had to wait on CS to ship a replacement.
