I wish I was close. I believe that kettle is at least forty years old.

I GOT IT!! I saw this on the 2nd. day it posted and I have Hotmail and could not get thru. Finely I was able to make contact and I picked it up yesterday, an hour & a half drive away. It's a little rough, but like you said Kevin, I beleave that it is around 40 yrs. old. All of the original parts are there, complete with steel wheels on rubber.

In either 1968 or 69, I got my Dad a weber kettle for Fathers Day. An 18.5 Lemmon, so they will make a nice pair, once Dad gives it up!

Thanks Dean for prodding me along, or someone might have beat me to it.

Brad, congratulations. Are the legs held in their sockets by thumbscrews? If so, your kettle was probably manufactured before 1970.

Kevin, yes the original thumb screws were still intact. They were pretty well "set" , but luckly I remembered to take a can of WD-40, a couple of sprays and gently worked them back & forth with a pair of pliers. They came right out. I wasn't sure if they were put in by a previous owner or not. Thanks for the info!

Thanks George! Yea, a Red is pretty sweet! Now if I can just get my father to give up the little lemmon.....all in do time. I can't wait to fire them both up at the same time. The yellow one turns a bright orange on the botton, and I understand that the red's turn a "brick" color.

Nice score. I had to travel about 45 minutes for my lime and that was worth it to. I would like to see a picture of the 18.5 Lemon. I have an 18.5 Coconut but I have never seen an 18.5 Lemon. Thanks

The CL listing has been deleted. Can you post some pictures once you have the chance? We all would love to see your "new" antique!

Thanks all! And I'll work on those pics. I'm pretty techno challanged, but I'll employ the wife on this. It may not be until next weekend or so, as I work a 2nd.shift job & wifey works in the day. (but you know, we hardly ever argue any more!)
